As for the morning of my flight, it was nothing but first class. It was fun to be able to help inflate the balloon. Liana was our pilot and was extremely informative and told us very interesting information about her career and about ballooning. We were very fortunate to have her as our pilot!! The weather was perfect and luckily she said yes, so the proposal made the flight even better!! Landing was fun, as was helping pack up the balloon. She took us up to about 2500 feet above sea level, and then slid over brush in a field, which was a very cool experience. Hearing how the balloon operated, wind effects, turning ability and the overall science of ballooning made this field special.
Like I said, I cannot recommend Blue Ridge Ballooning enough. This was a once in a lifetime experience and I am very happy that I made the decision to go with BRB!!

From start to finish, this highly professional - yet relaxed and fun - group delivered on point for us! This is a multi-generation family of ballooners who really know what they're doing. I booked a ride with Blue Ridge Balloon Co to celebrate Kathryn's and my engagement. They were super responsive and discrete to let the surprise play out. I really appreciated their safety record and attention to detail with test balloons. When we got to the launch site, another group set up in a different part of the field which they immediately knew would be trouble with the wind. Five minutes later the other group was struggling to keep the balloon out of a tree. Our group on the other hand lifted off with no problem and then spent over an hour bouncing up and down in the fall foliage, zooming over the river, and staying up longer than the other balloon groups out there. The landing was perfect in a nice open field they've used a lot before. We were met by the rest of the team who laid out our champagne toast and finger foods before driving us back to our car. They took great photos for us the whole time. Amazing, friendly, safe, and professional experience from top to bottom.
Our pilot, Liana, was one of the nicest people I have ever met and made us feel so welcomed during our sunrise flight. Her skill in maneuvering the balloon to hit different layers of wind (yes, that's a thing) was so precise that we were able to maneuver the balloon over the Rivanna Reservoir and just kissed the tops of the surrounding trees before heading back up in elevation and moving to a different area of Charlottesville. There are breathtaking views the entire time and you will truly never see Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains from a more beautiful perspective.
We cannot wait to go back again!
I cannot recommend Blue Ridge Ballooning enough. I proposed to my fiance in a balloon on a Friday morning and Liana was incredible in facilitating this process. She was tremendous at communicating and answering all my questions while understanding my concerns about weather and helping me plan my special occasion.
